Frequently Asked Questions
What is Decision Analysis?Decision Analysis (DA) is a structured, proven discipline that combines behavioral science, game theory, and quantitative methods to improve decision quality. Originally developed in the 1960s for high-stakes government and corporate projects, it helps leaders cut through complexity, align stakeholders, and make confident choices under uncertainty.
How do I get started? We primarily help owners and boards of small to midsize family businesses and growing enterprises. We also work with their trusted advisors (attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals) on equity sales, strategic planning, governance, and major capital decisions.
What is stochastic modeling and why use it?Stochastic modeling (Monte Carlo Simulation) quantifies uncertainty by running thousands of scenarios. Instead of single-point forecasts, you get visual ranges of possible outcomes (S-Curves), key drivers (Tornado diagrams), and probability distributions. This gives you a much clearer picture of risk and reward before making major commitments.
What does a typical engagement look like? Most engagements include structured workshops (in-person preferred), clear decision framing, evaluation of alternatives, and — when needed — custom stochastic modeling. We deliver professional visuals and recommendations designed to help you communicate effectively with your team, board, and advisors.
Is the initial consultation really free?Yes. There is no charge and no obligation. It’s simply a conversation to determine whether we’re the right fit to help you. Sometimes we provide all the direction a client needs with just the free consultation
Where are you based?Triane Consulting is based in Houston. We typically work with clients in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
